John Isaac

Was driving back home after my class tonight when I heard a very interesting conversation on the radio.

John Isaac was speaking about his experiences in his career as a photographer.

Here’s a short biography of him:

From 1969 to 1998, John Isaac worked for the United Nations and had a distinguished photography career in the Department of Public Information. During that time he traveled to more than 100 countries as a photojournalist capturing the struggles and triumphs of our changing world.

I always have a very strong interest in photography. Whenever I go traveling with my family, I’ll always make sure I capture the beautiful moments on camera before I play.

Here was John Isaac, a renowned photographer, talking about what happened while he was in Lebanon and other third world countries. Once he saw some children in India starved to death. Then he saw orphans living in Lebanon whose parents were killed in war / civil riots.

All these caused him to have an emotional break down and he stayed away from photography for about 3 months. What makes him come back to photographer again? He saw the beautiful flowers in his neighbour’s backyard and he wanted to capture those beautiful sight.

After this, he was in one country where he saw a very young girl who was raped and parents killed. At that moment, he would have done what any photographer would do – capture the most natural demeanor portrayed by the little girl.

But he felt something in his heart that he should not take her pictures.

Then he went on to call up some organizations and asked them to take her in.

Photography can be such a meaningful activity; John Isaac mentioned that he learnt about patience through photography as well….

What a meaningful night…….

i was invited to join, so must check again for you.
most important, is that we must do it all for His glory, not to look good in front of people.
btw, do you have your own equipment?
