Happiness is Counting Your Blessings ~ By AR Bernard

"For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield."
Psalm 5: 12 NIV
If you sat down and began counting your blessings, how long would it take?
A very, very long time! Your blessings include life, freedom, family, friends, talents, and possessions. But, your greatest blessing - a gift that is yours for the asking -
is God's gift of salvation through Christ Jesus.
Bible makes it clear: A happy heart is a thankful heart.
We honor God, in part, by the genuine gratitude we feel in our hearts for the blessings He has bestowed upon us. Yet even the most saintly among us must endure periods of fear, doubt, and regret. Why? Because we are imperfect human beings who are incapable of perfect gratitude. Still, even on life's darker days, we must seek to cleanse our hearts of negative emotions and fill them, instead, with praise, with love, and with hope, and with thanksgiving. To do otherwise is to be unfair to ourselves, to our loved ones, and to our God.
Today, begin making a list of your blessings. Then, give thanks to God for all good things. His love for you is eternal, as are His gifts. And its never too soon or too late to offer Him thanks.
"Blessings we enjoy daily; and for the most of them, because they are so common, most men forget to pay their praise."
~ Izaak Walton
"God is more anxious to bestow His blessings on us than we are to receive them."
~ St. Augustine
"God blesses us in spite of our lives and not because of our lives."
~ Max Lucado
"Think of the blessings we so easily take for granted: Life itself; preservation from danger; every bit of health we enjoy; every hour of liberty; the ability to see, to hear, to speak, to think, and to imagine all this comes from the hand of God."
~ Billy Graham
"The Lord is kind and merciful, slow to get angry, full of unfailing love. The Lord is good to everyone. He showers compassion on all his creation."
~ Psalm 145: 8 - 9 (NLT)
